Hi. I'm George. Let's make things better.

I've spent years working in IT in and around Ipswich, and I started William James Creative Digital because I kept seeing the same thing: good people, doing genuinely important work, fighting technology that should have been helping them.

The smaller the team, the more daunting it gets. So I figured I could do something about it.

George, William James Creative Digital

Why I started WJCD.

  • Based in Ipswich, Suffolk, proudly local, happily remote-friendly when it helps
  • BA in Design, combined with years of hands-on IT experience across Suffolk
  • Non-profits and small businesses, the organisations that need good digital support the most and get it the least
  • Addicted to caffeine. If you see me on my third coffee in an hour, no you didn't

After spending years working in IT across Ipswich and the surrounding area, a pattern became hard to ignore. Organisations doing genuinely good things in their communities, charities, community groups, small businesses, were losing time and energy to technology that should have been invisible. It wasn't that they weren't capable. It was that nobody had ever set things up properly for them.

I have a background in IT support and a Bachelor of Arts in Design, which sounds like an odd combination until you realise most digital problems aren't really technical problems. They're communication problems. William James Creative Digital exists to give smaller organisations access to the same quality of digital support that larger ones take for granted, without the corporate price tag, the jargon or the disappearing act after the invoice is paid. You can see some of our work here.

How I work.

A few things I actually believe.

Plain English, always

If I can't explain what I'm doing in plain language, I'm probably doing it wrong. No jargon, no mystification, just honest conversation about what you need.

No surprises

You'll get a clear quote before any work starts. If something changes, we talk about it before it costs you anything. Hidden invoices are not something I do.

Built around you

I work with you, not at you. That means understanding what your organisation actually does before I touch anything digital.

I stick around

Finishing a project and going silent isn't how I operate. Whether it's a care plan or just an occasional question, I'm at the end of an email and I'll actually reply.

Beyond the work.

I'm a Suffolk person. I grew up here, I work here and I genuinely care about the organisations that make this part of the world what it is, from community choirs to pre-schools to local businesses that have been serving the same street for decades.

When I'm not in front of a screen I'm usually in a good pub with a good beer, which is where most of my best ideas come from. Or at least that's what I tell people.

If you'd like to have a conversation about your organisation's digital needs, over a coffee, a video call, or frankly a pint, I'm very easy to get hold of.

Don't just take our word for it.
